Summer Street Pollinator Garden
In the spring of 2024, we partnered with the Maynard Tree Committee and Maynard Tree Corps to reclaim and reimagine two concrete-covered islands in a parking lot on Summer Street in Maynard. We removed the pavement, filled the spaces with rich soil and compost, and planted a thoughtful mix of native trees, shrubs, and perennials.
The result is a vibrant garden that not only brings beauty to the lot but also functions as a natural heat mitigator, helping to cool the surrounding area during hot months. It has quickly become a welcoming habitat for native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
We continue to volunteer regularly to weed, water, and maintain these islands — a small act of care that’s making a lasting impact in the heart of town.
